CALL FOR PAPERS

To the Manuscript

The Human Rights Protection, Rule of Law and Daily Justice

Book dedicated to Prof. Zbigniew Hołda (1950-2009)

(coordinated by Prof. Barbara Stańdo-Kawecka, UJ and Prof. Lukasz Czarnecki, UP)

Human Rights protection represents a challengeable task in a globalized world. In addition, the Rule of Law in many countries is questioned. Also, daily justice which refers to the perception of (un)equal rights is under scrutiny. There is more inequality than even before, with more authoritarian governments and less human rights protection across the world. What are the challenges with respect and how to face them?

We would like to open call for chapters which refers directly or indirectly to the thought – however it is not reduced to it – of Prof. Zbigniew Hołda (1950-2009). He was a great academician, empowering teacher, human rights activist, expert on criminal law, especially in the field of penitentiary law. In his scientific work, he initially dealt with the criminalization of drug crimes and criminology, later he became interested in the issues of executive criminal law and human rights. In 2009 he was awarded the title of Pro Bono Lawyer by the Foundation of University Legal Clinics. For his activities in the same year, he also received the Golden Paragraph award by Gazeta Prawna in the advocate category and the Tolerance Award for his activities in the field of human rights protection.

We would like to open call for the following themes:

1) Protection of Human Rights in different countries, on global and national level

2) Defense of the Rule of Law and the global tasks

3) Daily Justice with special, attention to challenges in criminology, criminal law and challenges of penitentiary law in comparative/national perspective.
